Poor Refereeing Will Cost You A Job
Please exercise caution when listing or providing referees. Serious employers will always contact your referees to confirm the details on your C.V.
Make sure the referees you list on your C.V are trustworthy. Referees can decide whether or not you will be hired. Recruiters will inquire about your skills, discipline, flaws, and so on. Most of the time, how they respond is influenced by your relationship with them.
If a referee decides to provide false negative feedback, your chances of getting hired will be ruined. As a result, before naming someone as your referee, take the following steps:
– Determine what they are likely to say about you to a recruiter. If they gossiped about you behind your back, DON’T put them on your resume.
– Before adding someone to your list, make a polite call to obtain their permission. Keep them posted if you’re very interested in a particular job.
When is it necessary to update a referee? You have completed an interview and are aware that the recruiter will now contact your references.
