How to pass the 4 stages of the interview process
(and how each stage is different)
1. RECRUITER INTERVIEW
Their Goal: See if you meet the requirements and if you have any red flags
Strategy:
🎯 Don’t get too technical, they are usually not a subject matter expert
🎯 Build rapport with them, this will be your ally for the rest of the process
🎯 Ask questions about the rest of the team/culture
2. HIRING MANAGER
Goal: To find out if you’re qualified
🎯 Give EXAMPLES of your work (be specific, avoid generic answers)
🎯 Ask thoughtful questions (link in the comments with examples)
🎯 Build rapport, you will spend a lot of time with this person
3. TEAM INTERVIEWS
Goal: To find out if you’re pleasant to work with
🎯 Focus on being personable above all else
🎯 Ask them about their work, everyone likes someone who takes interest in them
4. EXECUTIVE INTERVIEW
Goal: To find out how you think at a high level
🎯 Focus on higher-level topics like industry trends
🎯 Have an opinion on where you think the industry is going
As you can see, each interview in the interview process is different.
The trouble is most job seekers treat them all the same.
