About the Role
The Bancassurance Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting branch teams to cross-sell and drive the adoption of insurance products. This includes collaborating with team members to identify opportunities, providing expert guidance to customers, and ensuring seamless placement of insurance covers. The role aligns with Equity Bank’s broader strategy to integrate financial and insurance services, fostering holistic financial solutions for its clients.
Key Responsibilities
As a Bancassurance Officer, you will be instrumental in achieving the Bank’s insurance-related objectives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Training and Capacity Building
- Conduct training sessions for branch staff on various insurance products distributed by Equity Bank Insurance Limited (EBIL).
- Ensure team members have a thorough understanding of product offerings to effectively communicate their benefits to customers.
- Cross-Selling Insurance Products
- Promote insurance products to customers already consuming other bank services, enhancing the value proposition for clients.
- Collaborate with branch teams to identify new opportunities and provide tailored solutions to meet customer needs.
- Renewal Management
- Maintain a renewal rate of at least 85% monthly by proactively managing existing insurance business and ensuring timely renewals.
- Business Growth
- Drive growth in insurance business within the branch, achieving targets for both volume and portfolio mix across different insurance classes.
- Join branch marketing initiatives to raise awareness of insurance offerings among customers.
- Risk Management and Lending Support
- Assist the credit department in de-risking lending by obtaining insurance policies for assets financed by the Bank or used as collateral.
- Provide guidance on insurance policies to secure bank interests.
- Customer Assistance
- Facilitate customers with documentation and processing of insurance claims, working closely with the Head Office Claims Department.
- Ensure customer records and insurance documents are properly filed and maintained at the branch level.
- Compliance and Procedures
- Enforce adherence to all insurance-related policies and procedures within the branch.
- Support the Head Office Bancassurance Team in implementing new projects and initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following:
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Business, or a related field.
- Diploma in Insurance is an added advantage.
- Certificate of Proficiency (COP) in Insurance is mandatory.
- Professional Experience:
- 2–3 years of experience in marketing or insurance sales.
- Strong knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in both banking and insurance sectors.
- Previous sales experience is a plus.
