If you have, well, you’re not alone—this is something I’ve noticed in a lot of CV recently!
It’s an easy habit to fall into actually, but did you know that using personal pronouns in your CV isn’t the best approach?
The best way to write a CV is using an implied first-person style.
This means skipping “I” or “he/she” entirely and diving straight into what you accomplished.
For example:
-Managed a team of five developers to deliver projects on time and within budget.
-Designed and implemented a CRM system that increased efficiency by 20%.
This is because;
1. It looks more professional and polished.
2. It focuses on results, which is what recruiters care about most.
3. It’s concise and ATS-friendly (Some ATS tools don’t allow personal pronouns), helping your CV get past screening systems.
When you remove pronouns, your achievements shine brighter. It’s a simple tweak that can make a big difference!
