Is it appropriate to follow up on the reason for not being selected for a job after completing the documentation and medical examination?

Short answer : Yes, it is absolutely okay to follow up

Here’s how you can go about it professional

  1. Choose the Right Communication Method
  • Email: This is the best option as it provides a written record of communication.
  • Phone Call: If you have a contact person and need a quicker response, a polite call can work.
  • In-Person Visit: If the organization allows, you can visit their offices to inquire, but ensure it’s done professionally.
  1. Timing of the Follow-Up
  • Wait at least one to two weeks after the last step (medical examination) before reaching out.
  • Avoid following up too soon, as hiring processes can take time.
  1. Structure of Your Follow-Up Email or Call

Subject (For Email):

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to follow up on the status of my job application for the [Job Title] position at [Company/Organization Name]. I successfully completed the documentation and medical examination on [mention date], and I wanted to kindly inquire about any updates regarding the final decision or next steps.

I remain very interested in the opportunity and appreciate any information you can provide. Please let me know if there is anything further required from my end.

Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.

Best regards,

  • State Your Inquiry: “I wanted to kindly follow up to check on the status of the process and whether any further steps are required from me.”
  • Remain Professional & Polite: Avoid sounding demanding. Instead, express understanding of the process.
  1. Handling the Response
  • If they say the process is still ongoing, politely ask when you can expect an update.
  • If they inform you that you were not selected, thank them for the opportunity and ask for feedback to improve in the future.
