AFIDEP (African Institute for Development Policy) is a regional non-profit research and policy institute with a mission to institutionalize the use of evidence in public policy formulation and implementation to address Africa’s development challenges. With offices in Kenya, Malawi, and the USA, AFIDEP focuses on five key thematic areas: Population Dynamics and Demographic Dividend, Health and Wellbeing, Transformative Education and Skills Development, Environment and Climate Change, and Governance and Accountability.
We are currently seeking dynamic and driven individuals to join our team in the following positions:
1. Post-Doctoral Fellow – Economist
As a Post-Doctoral Fellow specializing in Economics, you will conduct high-level research and policy analysis in areas relevant to AFIDEP’s thematic focus. Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and implementing research projects to generate evidence for policy interventions.
- Publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Engaging with policymakers and stakeholders to promote evidence use in decision-making.
- Supporting capacity building within governments and other institutions.
2. Post-Doctoral Fellow – Gender and Youth Empowerment
In this role, you will contribute to AFIDEP’s efforts in advancing gender equality and youth empowerment. Responsibilities include:
- Leading research projects on gender and youth development issues.
- Developing policy briefs and tools to inform gender-sensitive programming.
- Building partnerships with key stakeholders to support the empowerment agenda.
- Disseminating research findings to promote policy and program improvements.
3. Projects Administrative Officer
This position involves providing administrative and operational support to AFIDEP’s projects. Key duties include:
- Coordinating project schedules, meetings, and documentation.
- Ensuring effective budget management and reporting for projects.
- Supporting project teams in resource mobilization and stakeholder engagement.
- Maintaining compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
4. Research & Policy Associate
The Research & Policy Associate will work on translating evidence into actionable policy recommendations. Main responsibilities include:
- Conducting research synthesis and preparing evidence briefs.
- Supporting stakeholder engagement to promote evidence use.
- Coordinating knowledge dissemination activities, such as workshops and webinars.
- Assisting in writing funding proposals and reports.
5. Research Assistant – Intern (2 Positions)
As a Research Assistant Intern, you will provide support to research teams in data collection, analysis, and report writing. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting literature reviews and compiling research materials.
- Supporting the development of data collection tools and methodologies.
- Assisting in organizing and documenting stakeholder engagements.
- Contributing to the preparation of research reports and publications.
6. Research Officer – Economist
The Research Officer will focus on providing economic analysis for projects across AFIDEP’s thematic areas. Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting economic modeling and analysis to inform policy decisions.
- Developing policy recommendations based on economic evidence.
- Engaging with stakeholders to build consensus around policy interventions.
- Preparing high-quality research reports and presentations.
